Notes: A few days ago I posted a meme in my journal to give me prompts in the style of a Clue guess. This is a response to the prompt "Clopin in the Latin Quarter of Paris with a rope".

Another musical version

There's a German Romantic opera, Notre Dame, by Franz Schmidt. I've got the CDs and have started listening to it: it's quite enjoyable, although in shortening and simplifying the plot, there are some odd alterations: in this version, it's Pierre who stabs Phœbus, then throws himself out of the window into the river (presumably drowning)…

There are several versions on the market. I got the cheapest, which is the 1949 Munich recording with Wilhelm Schlichting as Claude, Hilde Scheppan as Esmeralda, and Hans Hopf as Phœbus. It's on Gala GL 100.720.
